Coaching Services

What is Coaching?

Coaching is a creative, facilitated process to help get you from where you are, to where you’d like to be – you and your needs, wants, strengths, and realities are always at the center of process, which means you come away with insights and solutions that are unique and truly meaningful to you, rather than prescribed advice from someone else’s lived experience. While the coach is responsible for the facilitated process, the client is always empowered to bring coaching topics and steer the discussion.

Coaching is not (and does not replace): therapy, educational training, advising, consulting, or mentorship. This creative process will look slightly different for every client based on their needs.

The primary goal of coaching is evoke awareness and then use that newfound awareness to plan, set goals, and define accountability to move forward towards your defined success. The larger aim is also to coach the client to the point of no longer needing a coach, by both achieving their goals, but also learning how to tap into your innate strengths and values to help you move through any future challenge.

How Do I Get Started?

Coaching can be helpful for a huge range of topics: from tactical professional challenges to personal dilemmas, there are often many coaching topics within the path towards your larger goal. The number and length of sessions is determined by the client, but establishing a plan for at least four, 1-hour sessions is common. A Note on Diversity: It is crucial to have a coach that you trust, and connecting with a coach with a similar cultural background can help with that. Our coach, Avalon, describes herself as a white woman who has a spiritual worldview, healed childhood traumas, experienced varying levels of poverty, and is a part of the LGBTQ+ community, but if you’re interested in coaching and would prefer a coach with a different cultural background, we’d be delighted to refer you to many coaches in our diverse network.
